Please join us for our next Eastside Satellite meeting.

In October, we had great turnout for our meeting to discuss what we want from our Eastside Satellite group as we go forward.  We made significant progress towards a vision and plan.

Some of you may have missed the October meeting, but we still want you be able to participate in this important conversation. A summary of the results is below, so those who were present can refresh your memory of what was discussed, and those who weren't can catch up quickly.

In our December 14 meeting, we will continue this work.  Building on the progress already made, and using a process called Open Space, we will move to action and implementation.

As in October, everyone’s voice will be important.  Please place this meeting on your calendar and mark it “High Importance:”

When:  Monday, December 14, 10:00 am – noon

Where:  Bellevue Library

We know this is a busy time of year for everyone.  Won’t it be wonderful to take two hours mid-month to relax with your tribe and plan together for the future of our wonderful group?

We look forward to seeing you on the 14th.

Ann Kruse and Nancy Beacham

Summary of October 2015 Meeting of the Eastside Satellite

We used a variety of methods (drawn from Liberating Structures) that allowed everyone to contribute to all questions, while distilling the input to a few points.  Here are the results as recorded on the whiteboard:

Purpose

Why does this group exist, why is purpose important?

Interaction – support/connection

Learning (sharing experiences and resources)

Connection and engagement

Guidance and advice – diverse group of coaches

Safe place to be vulnerable (supports learning and connection)

Feeling validated

Principles

What rules must we obey in pursuit of purpose?

We are welcoming and inconclusive: e.g. welcome newcomers warmly

Inclusive of all types of coaches! Diversity of coaches is important

Consistency balanced with flexibility

Staying connected to needs of diverse group at different levels

Be open to change – not fearful

We are not about administrative overhead ; we keep it simple

Black hole of commitment: We are about sharing, not about competing.  We share what we think will help others and learn from the experience (not try to top each other with flashy, or time consuming work)

Next Steps

1.       Identify Needs and desires of the group not currently being met

2.       List 5 principles for us to live by as an ongoing reminder.  (Ease-Connection-Learning)

3.       Learn how close we are from our meetings achieving our purpose

4.       Select a small group to think through the steps and return to the full group to resolve.

5.       Revise meeting structure to provide more interaction (utilize today’s class to start).
