Let's Take it to a Rumble!
(Coaching with Rising Strong, by Brene Brown)

“I dared greatly.  I was brave.  I got my butt kicked and now I’m down for the count.

How do I get back up?” -- Brene Brown

Jody brings us the next of Dr. Brene Brown’s groundbreaking work—Rising Strong. Her newest book brings to light the importance of recognizing the stories that drive our lives and how to claim them, examine them, and rewrite them -- especially after we have experienced a fall.  We’ll discuss the three acts of a story, the physics of vulnerability, and how to help our clients see the hook, get curious and write new endings to their stories.

What you will learn:

  • How to Reckon with the fall:  recognized you’re emotionally hooked and what happens
  • How to Rumble with your story:  A way to look at your story and get curious about it
  • The Delta:  How to rewrite your story and incorporate new learnings

Plus!: Core Competency 8 - Create Awareness—how we can incorporate clients; identify fixed ways of perceiving themselves and the world, differences between the facts and interpretations, disparities between thoughts, feelings and actions.

Jody completed her coach training at inviteChange in 2010 after a 20 year career in education.  She works with her clients around the power of their story and the importance of changing the story to change the outcome.  She completed the Brene Brown National Certified Facilitator Training in 2015.  She served on the ICF Board of Directors for five years and was President in 2014.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Don't worry if you haven't read the book (although that would be great!); Jody will share some videos and handouts that provide enough context for discussion.
