Navigating Relocation - Cultural Transition as a Coaching Challenge

Presented by

Janet Livingstone

What does it mean to relocate and find yourself in a new culture? How does it affect your identity, relationships and professional success? What we are used to calling "culture shock" is actually a long and complex process that everyone experiences differently. In our May session, Janet will talk with us about those who relocate for work or accompany their partners to a new place and what they go through as they adjust to their new surroundings. International cultural transition can be profound and coaching those who are going through it is a unique challenge.

The challenges are numerous and have to do mainly with gaining trust. Janet will present a methodology that comprises 4 stages of cultural transition to help us as coaches establish trust listen very actively to determine at what stage of transition the client is experiencing.  Then the coach can work on helping the client create awareness of the effects of this transition inside them and begin to process them
