South Sound ICF WA Satellite Meeting

Immunity to Change

with Sherry Hammond

This workshop will cover the key concepts in the book, Immunity to change – How to overcome it and unlock the potential in yourself and your organization. The authors, Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey show how our individual beliefs, along with the collective mindsets combine to create a natural but powerful immunity to change. By revealing how this mechanism holds us back, Kegan and Lahey give us the keys to unlock our potential and finally move forward. This is an interactive workshop where participants will be offered a practical application of the tools.

Key Learnings:

1. Distinguish between technical change and adaptive change

2. Discover how to uncover the hidden goals that protect us (our immunity to change)

3. Apply strategies to test our big assumptions that help unlock our client’s potential

4. Design experiments of change using the SMART (Safe, Modest, Actionable, Research stance, Test) model.

Coaching Competencies:

6) Powerful Questioning – asking questions that reveal the information needed for maximum benefit to the coaching relationship and client.

8) Creating Awareness – Integrating and accurately evaluating multiple sources of information, and making interpretations that help the client to gain awareness and thereby achieve agreed upon results.

9) Designing Actions – Creating with the client opportunities for ongoing learning, during coaching and in work/life situations, and for taking new actions that will most effectively lead to agreed-upon coaching results.

The storefronts in the shopping area face Meridian, the main street to the east of the shopping center. Drive west around the storefronts from either the north or south side of the stores and head toward the middle. There is a parking lot there for the library and additional spaces adjacent to that lot.
