Like many others I experienced burnout and transition in my first career. When that came to end I was at a crossroads. The good news – painful experiences as well as successes in my last 5 years would end up serving me well. I just had to “listen” to them and deal with my own self-doubts and gremlins. Coach training with the SeattleCoach community, connections and support from our ICF satellite, and connections in my former career came together. Now I have a full coaching slate and feel more than fully employed. And I am enjoying it.
Come hear a success story from South Sound satellite as I went through a major transition. The book Working Identity by Herminia Ibarra helps describe what real people experience when changing careers successfully. Experimentation and a series of small steps can lead to a large successful change.
As with all things in life that matter, being open to the universe and maintaining relationships and connections continue to be critical to my growth and success.
About Lisa Strom
With over twenty years of experience as a healthcare executive, Lisa has a broad understanding of hospital-based, home-based and ambulatory care operations.
Stemming from her passion for high quality reliable care and patient safety, Lisa led a lean system implementation in an independent community hospital. She then joined MultiCare Health System at the beginning of their lean implementation as the operational leader for the system's 437 bed tertiary hospital. By creating a vision of what was possible and providing the tools and support leaders needed, results were realized steadily and gradually and accelerated quickly as competencies developed. Lisa understands first-hand what it takes as a COO to learn "working at the right level" to inspire and coach teams to realize their full potential through a conscious mindset shift and develop a culture focused on improvement. She also developed a strong track record of bringing teams and physicians together across the organization to leverage the full potential of the hospital system.
In 2015 Lisa was invited to join a small team of coach/teachers at Lean Pathways Inc. coaching executives to be coaches of their leaders while developing a lean management system. This work is a marriage of a dedication to improving the quality, reliability and experiences in our healthcare systems with a strong belief that coaching is the answer to developing creative, confident and capable leaders, physicians and staff.
Lisa has held certification by the International Coach Federation as an Associate Certified Coach since 2016. She held certification by the American Society for Quality as a Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence from 2008 – 2017. She has a BSN degree and a MN in Community Healthcare Systems, both from the University of Washington.
