Coaching is Generative: Is Your Organization Ready for the Winds of Change?
When
Thursday, April 21, 2011
7:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Location
Washington Athletic Club, Seattle
Creating a culture of coaching is about "ask, don't tell" vs "tell, don't ask" and in doing so leaders unleash the power to create and originate at every level of an organization. Historical leadership models are directive, striving for predictability and struggling mightily in the face of changing rules of commerce and the 24/7 workplace dynamic that demands greater agility and capacity for every employee to be generative. Everyone can learn coaching skills, however the coaching mindset is something a leader must demonstrate and create the environment for others to follow. Coaching is about listening to understand, so that solutions are revealed and built collaboratively. Creativity is the number one need as reported by the 2010 Fortune 500 CEO research. Since every person is innately creative, we must look at the system and the environment a leader creates to unlock potential. A coaching skill set and mind set is a generative key.
