Description of Course

Most adults have at least heard of “advance care planning” and think about “Do Not Resuscitate”, or “Living Will”, or “Medical Power of Attorney”, or that bright yellow or green form their family doctor gave them to consider, but without much explanation. All these are part of what’s generally referred to as advance directive.

As coaches we show our clients that they always have choices available. Yet making choices is possible only when you are conscious and aware.

Sometimes abruptly and at any age, as a result of illness or accident, you may no longer be able to make medical decisions for yourself. Without advance directives, these decisions will be made on your behalf by well-meaning people whose views won’t necessarily reflect who you are, how you want to live, and what you value most about living.

So, if making your own choices is important to your way of being, why are you handing off these personal decisions to others?

Most people do not think of these issues until it is too late and second-guessing often leads to unwanted treatments, prolonged suffering, stress, regrets, and family conflicts.

What you will learn:

1.     Common reasons for avoiding advance care planning.

2.     How to start the conversation with yourself and with the people you love.

3.     What you need to complete the process.

4.     Make advance care planning part of your culture.

About Osnat:

Osnat Lustig focuses on helping urban ‘Boomers’ professionals with the non-financial aspects of their transition to post-career life. She uses coaching as a resource to help them design their own purposeful living beyond midlife.

While completing a certificate in gerontology (UW) she became acutely aware of how most adults, including her, are unprepared for the unintended consequences in a time when they can no longer make decisions for themselves. She now advocates for advance care planning as the greatest peace-of-mind gift one can offer to their family and friends.

Her professional training include: InviteChange (CPC), ICF-ACC, Immunity To Change®, Certified Professional Retirement Coach (CPRC), PACT™ Polarity Approach to Continuity & Transformation, MBTI® Steps I&II, Gerontology (UW), Organizational Dynamics (Antioch U), MS in Engineering (RIT), and BA in Design (Bezalel). Before moving to Seattle in 2014, she lived and worked for many years in New York City & Paris. Contact Osnat at connect@osnatlustig.com
