Description of Course
Awareness and visibility of gender-diverse persons and communities has greatly increased in recent years. Members of these communities and those who are close to them often deal with great deal of uncertainty, of fear, of shame, and of a continual need to navigate society in new ways.
Your clients may identify as gender-diverse or they may have gender-diverse persons in their lives. When they discuss unique needs and challenges, will you be familiar with what they are describing? Will you be able to coach them to their full potential?
What you will learn:
In this interactive on-line session, through case studies and small group discussions, you will:
1. Learn up-to-date terminology related to gender diversity.
2. Understand the distinction between sexual orientation and gender identity.
3. Increase your knowledge on gender dysphoria and transgender identity.
4. Identify societal challenges experienced by the gender diverse.
5. Gain confidence in discussing gender diversity in your coaching practice.

About Dr. Aramburu Alegria
Dr. Christine Aramburu Alegría PhD RN CPC is a Social Psychologist, Nurse, and Emeritus Faculty at the Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno. For nearly 20 years, she has conducted qualitative research, identifying issues and resilience strategies unique to transgender persons and their families. She has presented locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally on the topic. In 2019 she launched Alegria Coaching and Consulting, focusing on the gender diverse and taking her knowledge and experience to the next level to help others live authentic lives.
