Description of Course

Play functions as a neural exercise that improves the efficiency of the neural circuit and can instantaneously down regulate fight/flight behaviors such as anxiety, agitation, depression, irritation.

Laughter is one form of play that has been shown to help ease anxiety, stress and depression while building unique connections with others. When combined with yogic breathing, laughter truly becomes the best natural medicine, providing extensive benefits. It increases oxygen intake and blood flow enhancing executive functioning, improves blood vessel function, lowers blood pressure, and overtime, it can decrease the body's production of cortisol, a hormone released by the adrenal glands into the bloodstream at times of stress. Whether laughter is voluntary or spontaneous, it produces the same positive benefits in the body and mind.

Laughter Yoga requires no previous knowledge, is easy and accessible. This presentation will explain how the body responds, demonstrate the practice of Laughter Yoga and explore practical applications of laughter.
