1.0  Core Competency and .5 Resource Development
CCEUs

Hosted by ICF Washington State

Description of Course

ICF asserts that “coaching focuses on visioning, success, the present, and moving toward the future.”

And it takes more than willpower to sustain that commitment to moving forward. Not only for our clients but also for ourselves.

How far into the future are you actually able to project yourself?  5 hours?  One week?  5 years? 30 years?

It turns out that the kind of decisions you make today and the motivation to follow them through are very much connected to your relationship with your long-term future-self.

And there is a surprising neurological explanation behind it.

Happily there’s also something you can do to help create a stronger mental and emotional bond between your present-self and your future-self, so you are be prepared to be someone who can be successful when the future rolls around.

Session’s takeaways:

  • The neuroscience behind thinking about future-self
  • The implications of this type of thinking
  • How it impacts coaching goals and actions
  • Helping your client (and yourself) create closer relationship with their future-self.

This session has 1 CCEU for core competencies and 0.5 CCEU for resource development.
