Tension shows up in many ways; within the client, within you as a coach, and between the two of you. This session will focus on the central role of working creatively with tension in the coaching relationship. Learning to skillfully hold tension and manage discomfort, is necessary in order to support a powerful shift in the client. Used wisely, tension is a vital, powerful tool for transformation.

In this session you will:

  • Learn a new way to view holding and releasing tension
  • See the role of creative tension in managing reactivity.
  • Learn a 3-Step process for staying present and grounded while holding tension

Speaker Barbara Bouchet will demonstrate how necessary and beneficial it is to hold an appropriate amount of tension, not too much, not too little, and give examples and illustrations. You’ll be able to apply what you learn in this session immediately, in any relationship.

This session draws from Chapter 10 in Barbara's book, The Enlightened Edge for Leaders: Ignite the Power of You. The information offered has been tested over time by colleagues, many other authors, and in Barbara's work as a psychotherapist for 25 years and as a coach for the last 13 years.

ICF CCEs available for attending this event. Be sure to register online and check in at the event in order to receive them.
