The International Coaching Federation Washington Chapter (ICFWA) is delighted to invite coaches, community, affiliates, and members to join us in celebrating our 25th anniversary, with a special focus on Coaching Equity. We define Coaching Equity as any efforts in the coaching profession to eradicate systems of oppression through an intersectional approach to cultivate a sense of belonging for everyone. Such efforts may include our personal and interpersonal work to develop as pro-equity coaches, our relational work to be proactive allies, and our collective action to improve systems. With this special focus in mind, our goals in this gathering are to:

  • Honor our collective past
  • Celebrate our equity journey thus far
  • Deepen our understanding and relational practice of equity as intrinsic to coaching, and
  • Envision a future where coaching equity is foundational to the profession, and coaching is integral to cultivating an equitable thriving society.

In line with our chapter's mission to foster meaningful relationships, create equity, develop self-transforming mindsets, and drive broader societal change, we strive for belonging and long-term sustainable diversity within the coaching profession.

By acknowledging and learning from diverse histories and experiences that shape our community, we will foster appreciation for all individuals and groups. In celebrating the richness and uniqueness that each individual brings and increasing awareness about the importance of centering marginalized voices, we aim to create a foundation for a sense of belonging, where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Our celebration will highlight the significance of equity in coaching. We will acknowledge and appreciate not only the diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and identities within our community, but also the journey that the chapter has been on to drive pro-equity efforts.

We will also collectively envision a future rooted in equity. We aspire to challenge belief and social systems that shatter authentic trust-building in coaching engagements, and dismantle systems of oppression to ensure that equitable opportunities, resources, and upward social mobility is possible for everyone. By fostering authentic relationships, expanding our awareness of our racialized selves, reflecting on our biases and unexamined assumptions, and committing to personal growth as pro-equity coaches, we will co-create a community empowered to drive broader social change.

Join us as we celebrate 25 years of ICFWA and embark on our coaching equity journey. Together, we will envision and strive to co-create a future where coaching equity is foundational to a profession that embraces and uplifts all individuals, and coaching is integral to cultivating an equitable thriving society.
